GENERAL REGULATIONS

These regulations contain the terms and conditions that govern the access to and the participation in the cultural contest referred to as FILE PRIX LUX to be produced by FILE, Festival Internacional de Linguagem Eletrônica (hereinafter referred to as "Organizer").

We recommend the reading, with the maximum attention, of each item of the following terms and conditions and their full acceptance is essential for the participation in the contest.


1 THE CONTEST

1.1 The FILE PRIX LUX cultural contest is promoted by FILE, Festival Internacional de Linguagem Eletrônica, a company headquartered in the Capital of the State of São Paulo at Rua Dona Veridiana 521/06, enrolled with CNPJ/MF under No. 03659709/0001-91, having an exclusively cultural character, there being no modality involving luck.

1.2 The FILE PRIX LUX contest is an integral part of FILE, Festival Internacional de Linguagem Eletrônica, where the Organizer intends to present, exhibit, host, select and make a selection of works and materials through an evaluation commission.


2 CATEGORIES

2.1 The FILE PRIX LUX contest counts on the following specific categories:

a. Electronic Sonority: electronic sonority shall mean all researches and experience in the scope of the sounds, being therefore more comprehensive than the scope of the music and open to possible transversalities with other disciplines, being: Sound Performance, Sound Installations, Sound Art, Genetic Music, Biological Music, Erudite Electronic Music, Pop-Electronic Music, Radio Drama, Radio Art, Sound Landscaping, Sound Robotics, Video Music, Sound Poetry, Sound Robotics, etc.

b. Interactive Art: interactive arts shall mean all researches and experience in the scope of the art that use interactive media and that take into consideration the intersection between art, science and technology, as well as the possible transversalities with other disciplines, being: installations, performances, Internet projects, virtual reality, augmented reality, multi-touch desks, digital objects, outdoor projects, projects for mobile telephones, electronic graffiti, vrml, etc.

c. Digital Language: digital language shall mean all researches and experience in the wide scope of the multiple disciplines that use digital media, as well as the possible transversalities among them, being: Digital Games (in all of their modalities), animations (in all of their modalities), Digital Cinema, Machinima, Digital Video, Digital Architecture, Digital Fashion, Digital Design, Robotics, Artificial Life, Biological Art, Transgenic Art, Software Art, New Interfaces, Second Life Performances, Animes, Hypertexts, Non-linear Scripts, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Photography-Panorama, Programming Language, Digital Poetry, Digital Dance, etc.


3 ENROLLMENTS

3.1 Only the enrollments made by the Internet through the www.file.org.br website will be accepted.

3.2 For the enrollment, it is required the filling of the on-line enrollment card and the sending by mail of a color photography, with minimum size of 3x4 cm of the participant.

3.3 The file containing the picture (photography) of the participant shall have the following extensions: TIF, JPG or GIF.


4 SENDING OF THE WORKS

4.1 The copies of the works (hereinafter referred to as "works") shall be sent to the Organizer by mail in compliance with the following rules:

a. The materials of the ELECTRONIC SONORITY category shall be sent through the following formats, media and dates described below:

- The works shall be sent by mail, the posting date being limited to March 10, 2010;

- All works shall be submitted in CD audio, DAT, DVD audio, DVD video, including the specifications of the required codecs, plug-ins and formats (such as NTSC and PAL, WMV/WMA, ASF, RM/RA, MOV, MPG/MPEG, AVI);

- Projects such as sound installations, real time performance, ambient audio/visual, etc., such as a video document (3 – 10 minutes);

- The descriptive documentation shall treat not only of the event itself, but also of the characteristics of the work environment beyond the proposal, such as space and technical requirements for the work performance;

- A detailed description shall be included with the materials, as well as information on the equipment, scores, set-ups and any illustrations or sketches;

- Together with the work, a section (extracts) shall be sent with a time from 3 to 10 minutes. Those edited extracts may serve as a compressed remix of different musical areas of several compositions or the participant may simply choose a continuous representative track.

b. The works of the INTERACTIVE ART category shall be sent by mail in the following formats and media:

- The works shall be sent by mail with the posting date being limited to March 10, 2010;

- All works shall be submitted in video (about 3 minutes) in DVD, with files in WMV/WMA, ASF, RM/RA, MOV, MPG/MPEG, AVI;

- A detailed documentation shall be sent, which shall explain the fundamentals on how the work operates (space requirements, interaction form, the role of the participants in relation to the interaction interface, etc.).

- In case the work is interactive and submitted in DVD, an additional video shall be included with a virtual tour through the work.

- It is required the attachment of additional material (sketches, photographs, etc.) related to all enrolled works.

c. The works of the DIGITAL LANGUAGE category shall be sent by mail through the following formats and media:

- The works shall be sent by mail with the posting date being limited to March 10, 2010;

- All works shall be submitted in video (about 3 minutes) in DVD, with files in WMV/WMA, ASF, RM/RA, MOV, MPG/MPEG, AVI;

- A detailed documentation shall be sent, which shall explain the fundamentals on how the work operates (space requirements, interaction form, the role of the participants in relation to the interaction interface, etc.).

- In case the work is interactive and submitted in DVD, an additional video shall be included with a virtual tour through the work.

- It is required the attachment of additional material (sketches, photographs, etc.) related to all enrolled works, including the area required for mounting and duration time and possible technical requirements.

4.2 Enrolment Card – The participant, at the time of sending the works by mail, shall fill-in and sign the works Enrolment Card (available at the contest site), describing in detail technical and technological aspects of the works.

5 SELECTION

5.1 The works will be analyzed by an evaluation commission comprised of professionals of the area, which will select at least 10 (ten) finalists of each of the categories, which will compete for the awards.


6 AWARDS

6.1 Among the finalists, the judgement commission will select the 7 (seven) best works.

6.2 The audience may choose 01 (one) work among the finalists through on-line voting, which will be awarded as the "audience choice".

6.3 The participant chosen as the "audience choice" may be one of the 7 (seven) selected by the judgement commission, otherwise the last selected by the judgement commission will be replaced by the participant chosen by the audience and will receive the Honor Award.

6.5 The aforementioned values are gross values and will be subject to withheld income tax as provided for in the laws in force.

6.6 The selected participants, winners of which of the specific categories, will be notified through Registered Letter, return receipt requested.

6.7 The final list with the best ranked participants in which of the categories will be available at the website www.file.org.br in June 2010.

6.8 The notification will specify the date and place where the winner participant shall appear to receive his/her aware and perform the public presentation of his/her works.


7 PARTICIPANT'S RESPONSIBILITY

7.1 The participant will be the sole responsible for the authenticity of the provided data, for the authorship and/or for the contents of the works sent, being therefore the sole responsible for those creations, being civilly and criminally liable for plagiarism or any other act that infringes copyright or intellectual property right of third parties. The participant is fully responsible for the use of third parties' images that may appear in the contents of the works sent.


8 USE PERMITS – INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND COPYRIGHTS AND SIMILAR RIGHTS

8.1 The participants hereby authorize the Organizer, free of charge, definitively, universally and irrevocably, to use the works produced by them for purposes of participation in this contest, as well as their name, resemblance and voice sound, in all and any kind of advertising, broadcast through electronic, digital and/or printed media, including: magazines, posters, television and radio broadcasting stations, internet and any other type of media and/or promotional pieces, as the Organizer deems proper, free of any charge to the Organizer.


9 MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS

9.1 Each participant may enroll in each of the categories, it being hereby established that the participant enrolled in more than one category, may be awarded in only category, taking into consideration that there can be no accumulation of awards.

9.2 The Organizer, at any time, to its sole discretion, may complement and/or amend this document, either fully or partially. All amendments or complementation will be taken to the knowledge of all by publishing in the site of the contest and those amendments or complementation will become effective only after the elapsing of 24 (twenty-four) hours from their publishing in the site.

9.3 The decision of the evaluation commission is sovereign, no appeal being applicable.

9.4 It is prohibited the participation of legal entities, employees of the companies involved with the cultural contest, as well as any other people that take part of the organization of this contest.

9.5 Upon the filling of the on-line enrolment card or its sending by mail, the participants tacitly agree to all rules of this cultural or recreative contest, as well as the use of their names, resemblances, voices and pictures for disclosure of the result of the cultural contest, including for use in advertising, exhibitions, without any additional burden to the Organizer or third parties appointed by them, for the legal term of protection of the copyrights.

9.6 The winners are the whole responsible for the provided information and for the undue use of the copyrights and related rights of the works sent, being civilly and criminally liable for any damages caused to third parties, hereby indemnifying the Organizer.

9.7 All works received by the Organizer, either by upload or by mail, including those chosen as winners, will not be returned to the participants after the end of the contest.

9.8 At the time of receiving of the award, the winner shall sign a receipt. In case he/she is minor than 18 (eighteen) years, the receipt shall be signed by the winner together with the respective legally responsible persons.

9.9 In case the awarded person is not found in the indicated address for three consecutive times, the award will be available to him/her at the Organizer's headquarters for a period of 180 (one hundred and eighty) days, after which he/she will not be entitled to award anymore, in which hypothesis the Organizer shall collect the award value to the National Treasury within 10 (ten) days.

9.10 The participation and distribution of awards of this cultural contest are FREE OF CHARGE. The participants are not subject to any kind of raffle or similar operation.

9.11 All doubts and/or disputes arising from this cultural and recreation contest will be settled by the Organizer, always taking into consideration the Consumer Protection Rules in force. No kind of appeal shall apply from the Organizer's decisions.
